Photovoltaic power generation is based on the principle of semiconductor photoelectric effect. When sunlight shines on a photovoltaic cell composed of P-type and N-type semiconductors, the energy of photons is absorbed by the semiconductor, allowing the electrons inside the semiconductor to gain enough energy to break free from atomic constraints and produce electron hole pairs. At the junction of P-type and N-type semiconductors, due to the presence of an built-in electric field, electrons and holes will move in opposite directions, forming a potential difference at both ends of the battery. When the external circuit is connected, current flows through, achieving direct conversion of solar energy to electrical energy. Multiple photovoltaic cells are connected in series and parallel to form photovoltaic modules, thereby constructing a large-scale photovoltaic power generation system.
